What’s the point of beeing interrupted every little time a mail comes in?
This is ridiculous.
Or does your post man bell/knock for every (real) mail?
Well gee, Martin, some people like utilities such as this one. If you don’t, the solution is simple: don’t install it.
this is great work, thanks!
(ps: the only ridicilous to mention here is martin’s comment)

…finde das Tool sehr nützlich, aber bei mir läuft es nicht…warum auch immer…
It dosen`t work….!!??
Guido,
Please see the FAQ posted on the product page to see if your question is answered. If not, feel free to send me an email!
Thanks for a great program, but is this normal as I hide mail and use mail unread menu when a new mail arrives your program brings mail to the front causing an interuption in what I am doing. Would it be possible just to only see Herald and leave mail hidden.
Regards
Jim
Beautiful piece of software which worked out of the box like a charm. Congrats !
Hi!
I found your website through this post :) I really like the way the comments are wrapped into these balloons here! it seems that you are using your own wordpress theme but I can’t find it from WordPress? isn’t it available there? :)
great job!
adri
Hi Adriano,
This is a custom theme I did myself. Thanks for the compliments!
Hi Erik!
Te idea is great and design is good too – but what I’m missing in Herald is opening of smart mailboxes in Mail.app instead of real mailboxes. I sort my mail by smart mailboxes and use only them while Mailboxes section is always collapsed – but everytime I hit the button on Herald notification I get Mailboxes unfolded and see the message in real mailbox.
So shortly – need some option to open messages in smart mailboxes – everything else is just great!
Fantastic App!
Spaces support needed although I see you’re doing this in V.2
One thing that annoys me is when you position the notifications and resize them, it doesn’t save them after restarting. It would be nice to do this so you can define how much screen space it takes up and where it is on the screen permanently.
Finally, a “Mark as Read” button would be fantastic, what I mean by this is that you have to click a tick for example in order for the notification to disappear. Quite often a notification has popped up and once I’ve moved the mouse it’s vanished and I have to go into mail the normal way. This could be a config option as I said as having to do this every time may annoy other users.
Fantastic design though!
Thank you for making it : D
All the best!
Btw, from memory I remember seeing a tick icon already for something else. I could be mistaken though.
Also, as a final note. I think the notification disappearing was from clicking the mouse although again, I can’t remember. Any advice/tips on this if I’m doing something wrong would be great!
I guess I would describe it as a balloon at this stage. It’s abit “floaty” and it can easily “pop” and disappear.
It needs to be “tied down” and made abit more “solid”
…like a brick lol!
Hi L. Wolfe,
Thanks for the suggestions. There is actually already a “Mark as read” button (the one in the lower right). Also, the resizing bug will be fixed in the next version.
Hi,
I want to uninstall Herald but when I use the uninstall script that comes in the installation package nothing happens…
Hi Fernando,
You can remove it manually by going into ~/Library/Mail/Bundles and deleting Herald.mailbundle.
It stoped working with 10.6.2 (Mail 4.2) – any simple trick in the .plist possible? Or will you release an update?
Thanks from Germany!
Just released an update that should work with 10.6.2 (let me know if you have any problems)
Hello
Very good job Erik!!! That s exactly what i needed…
I am testing your plug in in snow leopard and i have just installed it yesterday …..
My first impression is that it is a good plug in. Good job!
I may suggest a smart mailbox compatibility… I usually receive 100 to 150 mail per day!
Thanx a lot.
